I do enjoy the helm but I also enjoy sail trim. I don’t need to be right, if the skipper gives a command I do what the skipper says. I’m not big into conflict. I know how I like to set the sails to go fast but I’m not going to get into arguments, especially on a long race. Crew fights make the race even longer and much less fun. I am Safety at Sea certified 2019 and am have my US Sailing Level 1 and 2 certifications. First Aid and AED/CPR trained. I have been on our local youth boating association Board of Directors for 11 years and am currently the Operations Committee Chairman. I am a retired dentist. Comments: I’ve been sailing in amateur/club racing in SoCal for 9 years mostly on Beneteau First 40.7 and some smaller 27-30ft boats like J29s. I own and campaign ‘Saga’ in Dana Point and Long Beach which is a Beneteau First 40 mostly on inshore random leg and windward/leeward races. Longest race I’ve skippered is Around Catalina on Saga (2022) so new to true offshore races. 40 years old, 185lbs and relatively strong and agile on the boat. Also a computer engineer so very capable around electronics including troubleshooting an tuning and I also spent my youth building an drag racing Mustangs so am a very capable mechanic/engineer. I’ve done all positions on the boat from stern to bow but would be happy with any position for a transpac race! Looking to crew on a transpac boat for a few years with the goal of racing my own boat one day!

Comments: Hi! My name is Alexandria Zimmerman, I'm 24 years old, and I have about 20 years of racing experience on the Great Lakes. I completed 9 years of junior sailing, 4 years of varsity high school sailing, 2 years of collegiate sailing, and coached junior sailing for 5 years. I have been racing on everything from Thistles to Catalina 27's to Orma 60's and everything in between. I have raced in offshore regattas at Larchmont YC in New York, as well as completed 6 Port Huron to Mackinac races. I'm looking to do more distance sailing and hoping to find a boat for the 2023 Transpac race! I am extremely comfortable in all positions behind the mast, but excel as a jib/ spin trimmer and helmsman.

I usually work the bow/mast positions, however,. on this race, all crew work all positions. Further, I work the galley but I do meal prep etc. for the entire crew for all dinners on my time,. and still cover all my watches on deck.

Comments:  I’m a sailor that has always wanted to cross the Pacific. I'm wondering if you or anyone you know would be willing to take a passage newbie on board next summer 2023 for the voyage east from Hawaii to Cali (or other offshore passages)? I have an ASA 104, 105, 114 & 118 license. I have several years experience sailing & racing in the SF Bay Area, coastal cruising off Cali, cruising the Caribbean and the Med. I am physically fit for my age, just turned 59. I'm a mechanical designer who has been in love with sailing since I was 10 years old. I've been working for Apple since 2009 so lucky to WFH during the pandemic (vaccinated & boosted). Last year was really stressful for me with some challenging projects at work and a big pool project on our new home in Vista Ca (near Oceanside harbor). I would really like to take a month off next summer, unplug and experience the magic of the Pacific. I’m also available as delivery crew if you need an extra hand sailing up or down the Cali coast. I’m happy to pay my own air fare and share of provisions/fuel as needed. Any advice, tips or instruction from you towards this goal would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your valuable time.

Position: Foredeck,Mast,Tactician
Experience: Intermediate
Comments: I'm a bowman native to the great lakes, and have done bow/mast on a Farr 36 OD, a multitude of J boats and a TP-52. I've never done a transpac but I've done several smaller-scale distance races, including Northern Century on Puget Sound. Most comfortable in front of the mast but I'm working on getting some trim/helm experience to be more of an all-rounder and learn quickly. Willing to help with delivery, transpac is a bucket list race for me.

Heidi Townsend - heidiktown@gmail.com
Position: All Positions
Experience: Intermediate
Comments: I am a pit musician who works really well under pressure and in intense environments. I have owned and sailed boats for many years. Currently own a Catalina 320 solo in the Puget Sound. Just parted with a Catalina 42 mkII up in the San Juans. Have sailed in Florida, California, Washington, & Canada. I would be thrilled at the opportunity to assist on a crew in this race. I’m open to any position and will learn new tasks quickly with a great attitude (even when things aren’t going as planned). I am very good with change, being flexible, nuanced team dynamics, keeping an upbeat attitude in pressured and uncomfortable situations, and staying calm in emergencies. I’ve guided white water rafting for 14 years, so I have somewhat of an understanding of what it takes to lead teams through long passages that can sometimes be very intense. Happy to be considered, and can provide any other information necessary. Thank you.

David Wachtel - 19498873928 - dswachtel@gmail.com
Position: All Positions
Experience: Beginner
Comments: I raced many small boats (Sabot, Snowbird, Kite, Laser) from age 7 - 15, as a member of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club in Newport Beach, CA. Crewed a single regatta on a Shields at age 15, primarily involved in Spinnaker setting and lowering. Fast forward many years, am reconnecting with sailing in 2022 and into the future; Sailing J22, Harbor 20, Shields presently; plan purchase 35 - 50 ft in future. To make significant progress need to crew with seasoned folks; will do whatever job no one else wants to make this happen. I'm a beginner on a blue water experience, but very comfortable on boats, love the ocean, love the idea of the transpac race, it's always been an illusive dream of mine.

I’m mostly a cruiser, but have experience racing and crewing in Tampa Bay and would love to join a crew on this race to gain some experience before entering on my own soon. Comments: Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am looking to race to Hawaii and or bring a Boat home. I have over 100,000+ offshore miles. I have completed many Transpacs, PAC Cups, Cabo’s, PVs, Newport to Bermuda, Annapolis Bermuda, Caribbean 600s. My priorities are safe, fun, then fast. I hope to find a group or a Boat that could use me trip. I have a delivery crew waiting and available as well.
